Suburban Youth (Reading)

Suburban Youth – Jeremy Nolan – guitar, Tony – vocals, Tom Rothermel – bass, Zach Hudock – drums. From Reading.
Suburban Youth was started in 1994 by three high school friends – Jeremy, Tom and Zach. Josh Pettinato was the orignal vocalist, who came from Oley. The band played one show before recording their first demo in 1995. Five songs were recorded on 4-track including Fuck The Army, No Respect, Angst, Drug Free Forever, and Nued Nick. Afterwards Josh left and Tony was added on vocals . During the summer of 1996 they recorded two songs for a compilation CD of local bands. Sometime after this the line up changed again with Andy added on drums. This line up recorded 8 new songs, again on 4-track, and 6 were released on a cassette tape titled Godzilla. They were primarily a local band and played all their shows around the Reading area.

Bad Ronald

After a bunch of Philadelphia bands my friend Bill Rude (the Koosmans, Rotgut, Stinkbomben, Tons of Nuns, Rear Admiral) was in a band based out of NYC called Bad Ronald (along with other Tons of Nuns, Stinkbomben, Rear Admiral  member Brian Sussman on bass) which was called “One of the greatest NYC bands that nobody knows but which everyone should know! – by Tony Autoharp Arena.

Recently they released an album that had not been released before as a benefit for Bob A. Lingus who had passed away.

“A year ago today our lives changed forever when we lost Bob. Giorgio and Brian had this pressed as a tribute to Bob, with all proceeds going to his children. Special thanks to Simona Prives for making the record look great and Deborah Suchman Zeolla for the great photos within, and Ellen Rosenholtz for taking these photos.”

“So here you go, 19 years after it was recorded. You can get this, plus this fabulous t-shirt, and in case you missed it the first time (apparently you did!) our two 7″s from the nineties right here at badronaldnyc.com

Please go check it out and if you can help out by buying some Bad Ronald music or shirts you won’t regret it.

Molly Be Damned

Molly Be Damned were from Boyertown Pennsylvania and started life in the 1980s as a band called the Demented Foolz. In 1989 Demented Foolz stopped playing but in the early 1990s three of them got together with a new member and changed the name to Molly Be Damned. IN 1995 they recorded their first demo and in 1996 they had several songs on compilation CDs but were never able to get their own record or CD released before splitting up.

Crop Circle – Venutian Suoix tape

Tape Cover

I can’t find any info about this tape or songs titles maybe after this post goes up someone can let me know.
Info about the band from John Terlesky’s Morning Call Article

The four-piece band, formed by students at Kutztown University in 1992, enjoyed a scrappy run on the area underground music circuit, self-releasing a charmingly eclectic, eponymous debut CD in 1997 before splitting up in January 2000 because various members relocated.

After moving back to Harrisburg from Boston last fall, guitarist Dave Slabonik renewed contact with singer Shaun McNally and began to collaborate on some new songs. Drummer Shawn Roth and bassist Lou Weller tentatively agreed to get back together.

Crop Circle’s music, driven by Slabonik’s rootsy string-bending and McNally’s moody vocalizing, has been described as surf/Goth/rockabilly/punk, but none of the labels sticks for Slabonik. “It’s pop music, that’s all it is,” he comments. “It’s sloppy and melodically oriented, energetic and catchy. I think it’s great. That’s the only reason I stick around.”

Black Hand – Practice Tape

Black Hand Cassette

Black Hand was Kevin Bohannon – vocals, Micael Monroe – vocals, Dan Piombino – guitar, Tracy Stair – bass, Josh Moody – drums.

Teen Angel Hearts / Little Things Break

Expo 67

Teen Angel Hearts were Patrick Rands (Little Things Break) and Wendy who were from Needham Massachusetts. In 1993 both of them came to Pennsylvania to go to college. Patrick went to Albright College in Reading and Wendy went to Bryn Mawr College. Along with Caleb Smith who was going to Albright as well together the three of them formed a band called Driver UFO (with a drummer named Kurt). Driver UFO released three 7 inchers and a mini-LP in 1993-1994. As I was making this post I noticed that they had this tape up on bandcamp so you can check it out there.

Expo 67 (1995)

Little Things Break

I have two tapes from this I believe low-fi solo project by Patrick Rands – it looks like they are also available on the Room-filling Sounds bandcamp. Although the releases on the bandcamp don’t exactly match up – I’m just going to embed the one tape that is closest to one of the one I have. There is a lot of other releases including some Driver UFO’s releases as well at the Room-filling Sounds site.
