The Shimmers were formed by Eden Daniels (formerly of Baby Flamehead) and Dave Bielanko (from the band Marah) in 1995 as an outlet for songs they co-wrote. With Daniels as lead singer, they began work on a folky album with some country-ish Americana and rock elements, with ex-Camper Van Beethoven member Jonathan Segel playing violin on several of the tracks. The project was halted, however, after the romantic relationship between Daniels and Bielanko ended in the late ’90s. In 2004, however, it was belatedly decided to finish the tracks with the addition of more instrumentation and new songs, resulting in the 2006 release The Way You Shine.
