Electric Love Muffin – Live @ CEC

The Muffin live from the CEC in West Philly – A rock against hunger show with Constraint (From Leigh Valley) and Government Issue. This is the last video I have of them – As usual they put on a great show. Some time I will try to get the Constraint and GI video from this show up as well. I’m not sure I have anything else to say about Electric love Muffin since this is my third post on them. I did get asked if I had any video or audio of their cover of Highway Star and I think they started doing that after all the videos I have so if anyone has any more video or live audio please let me know.
Again there are a couple of songs I remember but I couldn’t figure out the titles. So, if anyone knows please let me know in the comments. Thanks

Thanks again to Pete at Drugmusic.com. for the beta tapes

We Have Heaven, Zomes & Fursaxa Live SECRET ART Bethlehem PA 11/5/2010

One video and audio from a show in Bethlehem PA from last November. First time I’ve been back to a show in Leigh Valley in a long long time. Secret Art space was a little tricky to find but once your there is was a very relaxed great place to see a show. Reminded me of going to shows at the astrocade. For a review and pictures of the show check out the nice pooper article I only have video for We Are Heaven due to the video of Zomes and Fursaxa coming out too dark. Plus my flip like jvc video recorder I discovered does not have any volume control. So, I tried to get rid of some of the problems that caused but it’s far from perfect. Also, my apologies to the keyboard player in We Have Heaven for not having him in the video (until the very end kind of), nothing personal just bad camera work. We Have Heaven has a new album out which you can buy here.

Alastair Galbraith & Peter Jefferies Live Khyber – Philadelphia 08/19/93

Alastair Galbraith & Peter Jefferies from (I believe) their first tour of America. This was recorded in the audience at the Khyber on 8/19/93. I tired to figure out all of the titles but both of them were in a lot of bands and other projects so I couldn’t get them all. If anyone can fill the titles in please let me know. I was and still am a big fan of New Zealand music and they were in some of the best bands like Nocturnal Projections, Plagal Grind, A Handful of Dust, The Rip, This Kind of Punishment and all of their solo albums and projects. I skipped going on a vacation road trip because this show was happening while I was supposed to be on vacation. The show turned out to be worth missing the trip. If you want to check out more this is Alastair Galbraith on Siltbreeze’s site and Peter Jefferies’ site
Also here is a pdf of an interview with Peter Jefferies from a New Zealand zine Alley Oop
Thanks to Jim for the updates on the Peter Jefferies song titles.

Electric Love Muffin – Elk’s Lodge AC 7/26/85

Video from an Electric Love Muffin show at the Elk’s Lodge in Atlantic City. The show was on July 26, 1985 and they were opening for Die Kreuzen and Articles of Faith. I was never at any of the Atlantic City shows but from what I’ve heard (and now watched) it looked like a good venue. Lenny and Crunch Productions always put on good shows. This video is from a bunch of videos I borrowed and converted from Betamax tapes from Pete at Sounds of Tomorrow So keep in mind this video was captured from a 25 year old Beta tape. I’m not sure if it the tape or the camera at the time put Rich gets kind of washed out when he is in the spotlight. Hopefully I got the song titles right besides their normal cover of Norwegian Wood – during a string break on Butch’s guitar they do Bad Moon Rising and the Who’s I don’t Mind. I’m not sure what the last song is it sounds familiar but I can’t figure it out. Also, here is an old zine article about touring with the Muffin from Free TNT zine

Big Black @ the Crypt 10-30-85

This video is painful for me I was at this show but left before Big Black went on. I was a freshman in college and had an early class the next morning. The worst part which I couldn’t have known then was I would later change my major and leave Drexel for the much cheaper Temple ( I could have gone anywhere but Temple is a hell of allot cheaper). I don’t even remember what class it was so it couldn’t have been very important. It was a packed show which for the Crypt (a basement in a West Philly row house) was not hard to do. So the video is basically all one static shot of Steve Albini and Santiago Durango. What more do you need a close-up of the drum machine?. It show was October 30th 1985 so there’s some songs from Atomizer but it was before the album was released. The video (I believe) was shot by ex-KDU DJ Jeff Jenkins. Thanks to Pete for giving me a copy of this – check out his site Sounds of Tomorrow

Doomed To Obscurity (DTO) @ the Tritone

This video was shot at the last Doomed To Obscurity (DTO) (of this lineup) show which was at the Tritone. To me DTO had a sound that was kind of a mix of old Hardcore and Garage rock. Probably because of the influences of all the past local bands the members were in. DTO is made up of Roger Bodine (Grisly Fiction, Underraga, Suktub, Heroics) – Bass  /  Chris Hunter (Red Paint People, Mothra) – Guitar  /  Jason Clouser (Kitschchao) – Guitar  /  Jason Ranck – drums  /  Billy Taz (Mama Volume, Angus Kahn) -Vocals (2005-present) / Tristan Egolf – Vocals (2002-2004) At the bottom of the videos I put a video for the song Better Days with animation by Judith Schaechter which is my favorite song from the lineup with Tristan. He was also the singer for Kitschchao and an author – sadly he died in 2005. Below the videos I made mp3’s of the audio from the video if you want them.

Fugazi – WKDU Band Bash March 2nd 1991

These videos are from the second time Fugazi played a WKDU show at Drexel. I shot a few videos with my Pixel camcorder from tthe side of the stage. I was hoping to move around but the show was very crowded. So all the pixel video are from the side of the stage with Guy and Joe on it. I have no idea what the order of the songs was but this is all I had. The other video was by another KDU guy Ken and was with real cameras so the quality is a lot better (for DUTV). Fugazi always put on a great show but this one was not as crazy as the first KDU one that was at the Drexel parking garage I don’t seem to have a flyer for this show but I took a few screenshots.
All these videos are up on the freedom has no bounds You Tube channel. On that channel I’ve started to collect some Philly bands and shows from Philly in the favorties section.
The full audio for this show is available in the Fugazi Live Series

UPDATE The song I didn’t know the title which is on the track with Gone Away is Continuous Dogs which was only ever studio recorded for a session they did in Seattle for a radio show. Thanks to Counting Cracks for the info.

Dinosaur -Live WKDU Band Bash 05/14/88

Here is the first of my live tapes this one is from a WKDU band bash from May, 14 1988. It was a great show with Scab Cadillac (I plan on putting up their 7″and album sometime later), Bullet LaVolta (from Boston right after their first ep) and Flower (from New York – members of Flower later formed Versus) all opening up for Dinosaur. This show was after You’re Living All Over Me but Pre-Bug and Lou Barlow’s departure. I’m really not sure why I didn’t tape the entire show but at least I have the Dinosaur part. I might have only had one tape with me – I was supposed to interview Dinosaur for KDU but they showed up in a beat up station wagon and barely said a word so I skipped the interview (Plus SST did not tell them about the interview anyway). Here it is:

01 Severed Lips
02 In A Jar
03 Kracked
04 The Lung
05 Lose
06 Does It Float
07 Sludgefeast
