Mudd Helmut

Mudd Helmut
2 Live shows from JC Dobbs in 1992 by Richmond VA band Mudd Helmet. There is not a lot of info about them online but it looks like Mudd Helmut broke up in 1993 after releasing one 7″ and one tape (1990).

Original Sins

Original Sins

Two shows from the 1980s Garage revival legends. Original Sins formed 1985 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.and continued through much of the 1990s releasing many records. The Khyber show was without their keyboard player. Both shows were recorded from the audience and have good sound quality.
Can anyone fill in the song titles?
They have a facebook page here.
Also defiantly check out Brother JT’s records on his site or bandcamp and the two other current bands RunHideFight & Suffacox mach2 (original Suffacox led by the late & legendary Wayne Hamilton) he is in.

Follow Fashion Monkeys

wkdu house show

This is the first band I am putting up that played a show at my house. I first saw FFM at an early show for me (maybe my 2nd) in the Leigh Valley. Their lyrics opened my eyes to Animal Rights and I also liked the anti hardcore conformity message. Years later when I went to College in Philly I asked them to play a party at my house with Meister Squad. Sadly both their later period drummer DC Dave and their singer Steve are no longer with us. They were both great guys who are very missed
I’ve collected a bunch of their music here – I’m not sure if the first demo recordings are different then the first album but I included them anyway.
They released one self-titled album in 1985 (include here – it used to be available online but I can’t find it now), toured the USA with Italy’s Indigesti and recorded an album in 1987 at Inner Ear studios that was produced and mixed by Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara (available here).

For the 1986 Demo – The first song was re-recorded for their second album and the other song never saw the light of day. Sound quality is very good. The 87 demo has another version of “What About Tomorrow” and two more songs.
The live show from Club Pizzaz has 5 songs that were on that album. The live show was recorded through the soundboard so the quality is very good.

Three Foot Acid

Three Foot Acid with Freddie

Three Foot Acid were a short lived band from Philadelphia that featured the former Serial Killers singer Paul Bearer. They recorded one demo before exiting the stage. The sound for both of these shows was copied from old video tapes. They are both audience recordings and the sound quality is good.
Check out Paul’s interview on Loud Fast Philly

Last Cry

Demo cover

Last Cry were from Lehigh Valley (Bethlehem) Pennsylvania and were around for only 6 months or so. In that time they opened for some big touring bands – Descendants and Marginal Man among them. They never made it out of the Lehigh Valley and their last act together was to record a 9 song demo tape. They are believed to be the first female fronted Punk Band from LVHC

Naked City – Annenberg’s Zellerbach Theater, Philadelphia February 06, 1989

This is John Zorn’s infamous turn-on-a-dime band. Although they can play any style of music, the majority of their songs are noisy and complex. At any moment, a beautiful melody can degenerate into a hurricane of white noise — and then suddenly switch to something else. They’ve taken everything aggressive about jazz and heavy metal, blended it together, and tightened it. They look like a rock band: drums, electric guitar, bass, keyboards, and saxophone.

On February 06, 1989 they played as part of the New Music at Annenberg Center series in Philadelphia. I remember it being funny that the stuffy Annenberg part of the audience made it through the early instrumentals but when Yamatsuka Eye from the Boredoms came out and starting his screaming vocals they couldn’t take it and headed for the doors.

Naked City is
Bass – Fred Frith
Drums – Joey Baron
Guitar – Bill Frisell
Keyboards – Wayne Horvitz
Saxophone [Alto] – John Zorn
Vocals – Yamatsuka Eye

Die Kreuzen – Live Videos

Some videos that I have had up on YouTube but not up on this blog so I’m adding them to this post. Die Kreuzen were one of my favorite live bands and they always put on a great show. The JC Dobbs video was one I had owned on VHS but I loaned it out and never got back so I was so happy Lenny (RIP) had it and let me put it up.
