Die Kreuzen – Elk’s Lodge in Atlantic City Video

Die Kreuzen from the Elk’s Lodge in Atlantic City. Starts off with their cover of the Halloween movie theme. Then they played a mix of short fast stuff from their first self titled LP and a bunch of longer songs from my favorite Die Kreuzen album October File.
I remember seeing them at the Kennel Club around this time but it might have been 1986. Earlier I posted the audio from a much later Die Kreuzen show from the Khyber.

The Balls

I don’t have much info on the Balls. All I know is that I saw them a few times in the late 80’s and they were on Discpan Hands. But it was great to have a local band heavily influenced by the Meat Puppets. So here are their two demo tapes one from 86 & the other from 87. If anyone knows more info about the Balls please add it to the comments or email it to me.
Updated info (Thanks Bob)
Steve Maglio – guitar)
Dave Eisenhower – drums)
John Swana – bass – later it was Jim Stager (Huffamoose) and then Bill Comins
Steve Maglio and Jim Stager along with DJ Bonebrake (X) can be heard (recently) on this album.

Husker Du – Live Videos

Husker Du from the West Side Club, they played there twice but I’m pretty sure this is the April 16, 1983 show. The 84 show at the West Side was the Zen Arcade tour and at least in this video they only did a couple of Zen Arcade songs. The rest is from 7″s (In A Free Land), Land Speed Record or Everything Falls Apart. The quality of this video is a little rough at times but I thought it was worth putting up anyway.Go to Husker Du Database for a lot more info.
Thanks again to Pete at Sounds of Tomorrow for the beta tapes

The 2nd video is from City Gardens in March of 1984. Thanks to Lenny Crunch (RIP)for this video.

Red Paint People

Red Paint People put out a couple of 7″s and where on some compilations (including Scrabble.) They played brutal, bone-rattling rock and roll much in the vein of the Amp Rep/Touch & Go bands of the same time. In the early 90’s they played a lot of shows in Philly and along with Kitschchao brought a loud hardcore influenced rock back to the scene. The band was made up of Chris Hunter on guitar (Little Gentlemen, If, Goats, MothraDTO  ), Eric Hammarberg on bass (Double Penetration, Ben Arnold) Stroller on Drums and there singer was Matt.

Live On WKDU 02-15-93 (Jackie’s show)

I had to try to normalize the audio on this one – it was I guess either the tape or the original mix but hopefully I made  it better.

Scream – Live Videos

One of my favorite bands to see live, it was so good to see them again a few years ago at KungFu Necktie. This post has 3 Scream videos from Philadelphia and 1 from NYC from the mid-80s. I just discovered that I had the video below of them from Rock Hotel in 1984. I also added another video from Love Hall from 83 that was up on Youtube, West Side Club in 86 & Camden in 85. Scream is currently working on a new album called DC Special – “DC Special tells our story through the musical history we grew up with and so we’ve invited musicians from our local DC music community, both past and present, to collaborate with us during the session.” Their Dischord albums are available on Bandcamp

Rock Hotel NYC – February, 23, 1984

West Side Club 4/13/86

This was a great day first Decontrol & Scream at the West Side Club and then Marginal Man at the Kennel Club later that night. Scream did a bunch of songs from their first two albums plus lots of covers. I’m not sure exactly when this show was but I know it was Spring of 1986. I saw Scream a few more times after this but this was my favorite time – it was more like a party then a show. Scream are back together and doing some shows (hopefully they will do a tour) go to their site for more info.

Dead Milkmen – Live

Elk’s Lodge Atlantic City 1985?

Dead Milkmen Live from the Elk’s Lodge in Atlantic City. I don’t have much info on this show but I’m assuming it was in the summer of 1985. Lots of songs from their first albumBig Lizard in My Backyard plus a few from Eat Your Paisley . Around 1/3 into the video they do their big early hit Bitchin’ Camaro with what looks like most of the audience up on stage. The Dead Milkmen have reformed and have a new album out go to The Dead Milkmen Facebook Page to check it out.

Slovenly – Live Revival Philadelphia 11/6/87

Slovenly from Revival in 87. They opened for Firehoose on the James Worthy Tour. They did allot of songs off the Riposte album which had yet to be released (I think) and then a few from Thinking of Empire and After the Original Style. One of the SST bands of the late 80’s that never really got the popularity I thought they deserved. They had a truly unique sound which it seemed like people loved or hated. If you want more info on Slovenly read this. I don’t think they played in Philly again after this at least I don’t remember seeing them again and I would have gone. Currently their guitar player Tom Watson was touring with Mike Watt. After Slovenly broke up some of the members released a couple of albums as Overpass. I’m not sure what anyone else from the band is currently up to.
Note the first song Movement the recording is really bad the volume must have been too loud (you can hear when I turn it down- sorry)

Toxic Reasons – Love Hall, Philly 1983

Toxic Reasons from Love Hall in 1983. I’m not sure of the date the flyer says June 6th but the audio files say the show was on 3-27-83. Toxic Reasons were one of the best Midwest hardcore bands of the 80’s. This video is only the end of their set with 3 songs from Independence (Drunk And Disorderly, Riot Squad & Rally ‘Round The Flag, Boys) and then Powercrazed & No Pity from Kill By Remote Control Below the video is a link to get the complete show audio files.
