Scream – Live Videos

One of my favorite bands to see live, it was so good to see them again a few years ago at KungFu Necktie. This post has 3 Scream videos from Philadelphia and 1 from NYC from the mid-80s. I just discovered that I had the video below of them from Rock Hotel in 1984. I also added another video from Love Hall from 83 that was up on Youtube, West Side Club in 86 & Camden in 85. Scream is currently working on a new album called DC Special – “DC Special tells our story through the musical history we grew up with and so we’ve invited musicians from our local DC music community, both past and present, to collaborate with us during the session.” Their Dischord albums are available on Bandcamp

Rock Hotel NYC – February, 23, 1984

West Side Club 4/13/86

This was a great day first Decontrol & Scream at the West Side Club and then Marginal Man at the Kennel Club later that night. Scream did a bunch of songs from their first two albums plus lots of covers. I’m not sure exactly when this show was but I know it was Spring of 1986. I saw Scream a few more times after this but this was my favorite time – it was more like a party then a show. Scream are back together and doing some shows (hopefully they will do a tour) go to their site for more info.

Dead Milkmen – Live

Elk’s Lodge Atlantic City 1985?

Dead Milkmen Live from the Elk’s Lodge in Atlantic City. I don’t have much info on this show but I’m assuming it was in the summer of 1985. Lots of songs from their first albumBig Lizard in My Backyard plus a few from Eat Your Paisley . Around 1/3 into the video they do their big early hit Bitchin’ Camaro with what looks like most of the audience up on stage. The Dead Milkmen have reformed and have a new album out go to The Dead Milkmen Facebook Page to check it out.

Slovenly – Live Revival Philadelphia 11/6/87

Slovenly from Revival in 87. They opened for Firehoose on the James Worthy Tour. They did allot of songs off the Riposte album which had yet to be released (I think) and then a few from Thinking of Empire and After the Original Style. One of the SST bands of the late 80’s that never really got the popularity I thought they deserved. They had a truly unique sound which it seemed like people loved or hated. If you want more info on Slovenly read this. I don’t think they played in Philly again after this at least I don’t remember seeing them again and I would have gone. Currently their guitar player Tom Watson was touring with Mike Watt. After Slovenly broke up some of the members released a couple of albums as Overpass. I’m not sure what anyone else from the band is currently up to.
Note the first song Movement the recording is really bad the volume must have been too loud (you can hear when I turn it down- sorry)

Firehose – Live Revival Philadelphia 11/6/87

Firehose from Revival in 87 – a bunch of songs from their first two albums, one minutemen cover and a BOC cover. I along with two other KDU dj’s had set up an interview with Mike Watt through SST. So of course when we got there he had no idea we were coming. So we waited out in the cold and got a six pack. Evidently we got in and did the interview and Mike Watt was really easy to talk to and was a much better interviewee then we were interviewers. But the plus side of doing an interview was we were already in Revival and didn’t have to worry about getting carded by the bouncers. I missed most of Trained Attack Dogs but I got to see Slovenly. I really liked Slovenly – they seemed to fall into the you either love them or hate them bands (I have some of their set on tape I’ll put up later.) Firehose came on and were great – ok they weren’t the Minutemen and at the time it was hard to not compare the two. But now with time Firehose had some great songs and Mike Watt and George Hurley are so together and tight it was amazing. Check out Mike Watt’s Hoot Page

Autistic Behavior – Live Kater St. 8/7/82

This video is from an impromptu outdoor show in Philly back in 1982. Autistic Behavior only got through about 5 songs and then the cops busted up the show. Instead of me explaining check out this pdf with two zine articles (Savage Pink & Die Young) talking about it Click Here to see the pdf. They had two tracks on the Get Off My Back comp and recorded an album which was finally released by SRA in 2013.

Thanks to Pete at Sounds of Tomorrow for the beta tapes and Bret (Noise Addiction II) for the info and zines.

Articles Of Faith – Live Videos

Live @ Elk’s Lodge Atlantic City

Articles of Faith Live video from the Elk’s Lodge in Atlantic City on July 26, 1985. They headlined the show with Die Kreuzen and Electric Love Muffin opening. Wide range of songs from Up Against the Wall from the Peace Comp through Give Thanks and In This Life. I would guess this is probably there last tour since they broke up in 85. Articles of Faith are one of my favorite Chicago bands. Musically they had a unique sound and the lyrics were always great both the political stuff and they more personal In This Life lyrics. Hard to say because In This Life didn’t actually get released until 86 (two years after it was recorded) but I bet that album was a big influence on DC Revolution Summer bands like Rites Of Spring & Grey Matter. They recently got back together for a show at the Riot festival in Chicago. There is some video of the reunion on Youtube or on the I have A Brain in My Ass Blog. They also released a 7″ of new songs called New Normal Catastrophe which you can get here Plus Alternative Tentacles put out 2 collection cd’s which pretty much includes everything they recorded. There page on the Alternative Tentacles site is here (then select AOF from the dropdown)

Trained Attack Dogs – Live @ Chaos Records

Trained Attack Dogs started in 1986 and released one 7 inch (Pizza EP), one track on the Discpan Hands Comp and a self released live tape (Lotsa Fun). You can listen to all of it by going to www.kenkramar.com The band included Keith Souder (vocals), Ken Kramar (guitar) and John Manhardt (bass) and various drummers plus David Thrower also played guitar with them in 1988 and 1989. The drummer on these videos from Chaos Records was Rich Hoak (later of Brutal Truth and currently TFD.) I’ve been told this was one of his first shows with them. I’m not sure what everyone in the band is doing currently but Keith is djing as DJ K.L.Diablo. They played a bunch of shows in the last few years but I’m not sure if they are still back together as of now. Below the videos there is audio files and a slide show of all the flyers I could find of Trained AttacK Dogs.

Electric Love Muffin – Live @ CEC

The Muffin live from the CEC in West Philly – A rock against hunger show with Constraint (From Leigh Valley) and Government Issue. This is the last video I have of them – As usual they put on a great show. Some time I will try to get the Constraint and GI video from this show up as well. I’m not sure I have anything else to say about Electric love Muffin since this is my third post on them. I did get asked if I had any video or audio of their cover of Highway Star and I think they started doing that after all the videos I have so if anyone has any more video or live audio please let me know.
Again there are a couple of songs I remember but I couldn’t figure out the titles. So, if anyone knows please let me know in the comments. Thanks
